The year 1997 is a landmark year in the educational map of the Industrial Town of Tirupur. It was the year in which the NIFT-TEA KNITWEAR FASHION INSTITUTE was established by the Tirupur Exporters’ Association under the dynamic leadership of Padmasri A.Sakthivel, Father of Tirupur Exports in collaboration with SSI & ARI, Ministry of Industry, Govt.of India, New Delhi and the industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India Ltd., Mumbai.
OUR COURSES
A three (3) year Diploma course in Knitwear Technology Design production and Marketing (KTDPM) and 1 year Post Graduate Certificate Courses in
1. Fashion Designing and Patter Making
2. Merchandising
3. Knitting Technology and Knitwear Production
The above courses are offered in collaboration with NIFT, New Delhi.
In the following year short term courses were introduced under the TRYSEM programme of the Government of India.
From the academic year 2001-2002 a 3 year Diploma in Knitwear and Fashion Technology (DKFT) was introduced in addition to 1 ½ year diploma courses like
1. Diploma in Fashion Designing & Pattern Making (DFDPM)
2. Diploma in Merchandising & Quality Management (DMQM)
3. Diploma in Knit Garment Manufacturing Technology (DKGMT)
4. Diploma in Fashion & Info. Tech (DFIT)
The academic year 2002-2003 made history by introducing 3 year degree courses under the collaborative programme of the Alagappa University, Karaikudi.
1. B.S (Fashion Apparel Administration)
2. B.S (Apparel Fashion Design)
The academic year 2004-2005 saw the highest development in the academic history of the college by introducing 2 year Post Graduate courses namely M.S (Apparel Business and Administration) along with the purchase of 18 acres of land for the college.
The academic year 2005-2006 was yet another landmark year in the history of the college as new courses like
1. B.B.A (Apparel Manufacturing & Merchandising)
2. B.Sc (Garment Production & Chemical Processing)
PG PROGRAMMES namely,
1. M.S (Apparel Business)
2. M.Sc (Apparel Production)
ONE YEAR DIPLOMA COURSES namely,
1. DMQM (Diploma in Merchandising & Quality Management)
2. DKMM (Diploma in Knitwear Manufacturing & Merchandising) were added in the academic map of the college.
Now the Institute stands tall in between SIDCO and TAHDCO offering post graduate programmes and undergraduate programmes which are affiliated to the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The college is ably managed by a young team of Exporters under the dynamic leadership of Sri.Raja M.Shanmugham who has the vision to take this Institute to the highest level with all infrastructure facilities and making this college into a world renowned academic centre of excellence. Sri. C. M. N. Muruganandan and Sri. C. Thangaraj are ably assisting him. In a short period, the glorious vision of achieving global recognition for this academic Institute is not far off. |
