The knitwear Apparel Industry is growing at a faster rate and it is in need of qualified technologists in the field of weft knitted fabric production to transform the knitting industry into an organized sector. To cater to the requirements of the knitting industry, the department of Knitting Technology is doing yeoman service since its inception in the year 1998.

1. To equip the students with technical skill and professional knowledge in the field of knitting and enabling them to face the technological challenges that arise in knitting industries.
2. Plan to achieve Centre of Excellence in the area of knitting and Technical Textiles.
3. Plan to provide the technical consultancy services to the knitting industries.
4. Plan to take up the government sponsored research projects.

The department is equipped with hand operated 4" diameter "Knitmac" machine (2 No’s) for easy understanding of loop, formation. The lab is also equipped with Fabric Inspection table for estimating the visual defects and Double Cylinder socks Knitting Machines.
The lab consists of a collection of various knit fabric samples which helps the students to have a practical knowledge about the different types of fabrics produced by various knitting machines.
