Explanation : Water will flow from a well in the sand in proportion to the depth to which it is dug, and knowledge will flow from a man in proportion to his learning - The more you learn, the freer streams of wisdom flow.

In each Institution Library plays a vital role for the development of Students as well as Staff community. Library becomes knowledge resource centre started in all Institutions, not only for the statutory purpose but also for real development of Students & Faculties. In NIFT-TEA College of Knitwear Fashion situated in Tirupur area, started in 1997, mainly concentrating in Knitwear Industry relating with fashion and also with Management. Institute concentrating the Students to educate in all the ways relating to the Knitwear Industry and Fashion world from Top to Bottom.

For that purpose apart from the Text books, students need reference books and other materials coming day-by-day update in fashion world. For that Regional, National and International Magazines, Journals and Books regularly purchasing and keeping in Library for Student as well as Staff purpose. Success of the source only when the users using it properly. For that all arrangements made in the Institution which gives positive result in the past as well as present and hope in future.

The library, is housed in a comfortable and well furnished hall with more than 5400 sq. ft., and it provides access to the best of the Textile and Business management related digital resources through its subscription to various databases consisting of scholarly and industrially relevant contents. The library has set up 3 (Information Infrastructure for Institution) networks to provide business, industry, environment, and economic information to the users.

Resources

The fully computerized Library Information Systems help the library staff and students tremendously in their day-to-day operations. The Resource Centre offers “Campes iLib software system” with barcode scanning facility since 2008. Every document in the Learning Resource Centre bears a barcode tag that is used for its circulation. Similarly, all categories of users have a bar-coded identity card. This puts it on par with the best modern libraries in keeping track of the issues and returns in a foolproof manner. An Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) system is available in the Learning Resource Centre for the search of resources. The Learning Resource Centre follows open access system, encouraging the user to browse freely in the stack area. The library has set up contacts with libraries for getting articles, copies or books which are not available in our library. Photocopying facility is available on our campus. The users can take photocopies of the study materials at a minimum cost.

DELNET

As a Member of DELNET [ Developing Library Network ] a Organization situated in Jawaharlal Nehru University Campus, New Delhi. DELNET was started at the India International Centre Library in January 1988 and was registered as a society in 1992. It was subsequently supported by the National Informatics Centre, Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

DELNET has been established with the prime objective of promoting resource sharing among the libraries through the development of a network of libraries. It aims to collect, store, and disseminate information besides offering computerised services to users, to coordinate efforts for suitable collection development and also to reduce unnecessary duplication wherever possible.

NDL : National Digital Library of India

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) has initiated the National Digital Library of India (NDL India) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility. Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find out the right resource with least effort and in minimum time.

NDL India is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for leading Indian languages. It is being arranged to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular form of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is being developed to help students to prepare for entrance and competitive examination, to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. The pilot project is devising a framework that is being scaled up with respect to content volume and diversity to serve all levels and disciplines of learners. It is being developed at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

Orientation

Every year, new admission students will have an orientation program in Library. On that program, students will be informed by…usage of Library in an effective manner. Library User software – Online Publics Access Catalogue [ OPAC] usage + search engines, using e-library resources etc.

Celebrations and Competitions

Every year July 15, we are celebrating as Education Development Day for the remembrance of Tamilnadu Ex-Chief Minister Shri. K. Kamarajar’s birthday. For that we planned to conduct on the spot Article Writing, Poem Writing for the college students.

With the remembrance of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan – Father of Library Science, our NIFT-TEA COLLEGE – Library celebrating his birthday on August 12th every year as National Library Day. For that Library conducting QUIZ competition for Inter-department in class wise. And also inviting Articles / Power point presentation from willing students in the title of “Library – in my Life”.

Great Saint Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday on 11th January every year, our Library celebrating it as National Youth Day. For that conducting QUIZ, Essay Writing & Poem writing Competition. This year planned for “Youth Parliament” for encourage the college students and make them ready for taking social responsibility.

Reader’s Club:

Outcome of the reading from students may disclose in various aspects. One among that is develop create mind for their presentation. Developing literature source from the students, our Library plays important role by releasing student quarterly magazine ‘KURINCHI’. In that magazine, students contribution like Poem, Art, Short stories, Book review, Articles, etc. in both Tamil and English languages. Magazine also help students in Employment purpose, that details and placement guidance from College placement officer and Industrial Relationship Coordinator Shri. P.V. Sathyanarayanan.

From this year onwards, Library encourage the students by helping them for publish their Articles in Daily Newspapers / Weekly / Monthly Journals and Magazines. If anybody willing to release book individually, Library will help them in all the ways to release the books. Before that help them for getting Foreword from eminent personalities and help them to obtain ISBN Number from New Delhi. Management and College Administration will help the students for Book Release and guide them for Marketing ( sales) also.
