DEPARTMENT OF GARMENT MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY
From the inception of this department, all modern sewing & cutting machines have proved to be the main strength of this department. There are two laboratories namely Pattern making and Garment construction. There are 52 Sewing machines which include Lock stitch, overedger, Flat Lock, Button holing & Button stitching and rib cutting machine, bard knife cutting machines and straight knife cutting machines. Major leading sewing machinery brands like Juki Brother, Pegarus and Siruba are the main machine suppliers and supporters of this department.
The department runs a three year under Graduate course called B.Sc (Fashion Apparel Management - FAM). The course contains technology and management components in the area of Apparel Industry. The Technology of fabrication, processing, garmenting and quality control are the core subjects for the syllabi of this course along with fashion and managerial techniques.
The department of Garment Manufacturing Technology was established in the year 1998, The main aim of the department is to produce trained manpower resource in various areas of garmenting, including pattern making, stitching & export sampling.
The career prospect of this course is vast and the students of this course can choose any technical area of textile as his/her career option and placement records show that the students of this course are in an advantageous in various positions of the industry.
