History
The department consists of highly qualified faculty members with rich experience, both in teaching and industry. The department has well furnished lab with the latest equipment to provide practical knowledge to students in Testing Fabrics and Yarn. Apart from providing academic knowledge to students, the department extends its service to the apparel industry in many ways viz. providing testing services to industries situated in and around SIDCO.
Course Objective
M.Sc (Apparel Production - AP) is a two year Post Graduate degree course affiliated to the Bharathiar University and the course is designed to train students in the field of garment production and Merchandising. Apart from the PG degree, the students are given a Diploma certificate in Technical Textiles on the completion of the course. The curriculum is so designed that the students undergoing this course gain in-depth knowledge about apparel production. The curriculum also includes subjects such as advanced Textiles, Technical Textiles, knitting technology, computer aided designing, garment costing, Fashion merchandising, and total quality management. It also provides practical knowledge through laboratory classes in Pattern Making, Dyeing, Printing, Finishing, and CAD. The students who complete this course are well placed in the Garment industry.
Laboratory
The Lab is equipped with the latest Testing equipment for testing yarn to fabric. Many industries from Sidco use this facility and get benefited. Thus we are serving the knitwear industry in a purposeful manner.
